Welcome in La Cuadra at Finca Don Carmelo
The shelter for our horses was transformed into a 'tiny farm house' in 2021. You may have heard of 'tiny houses', which are literally small houses that have everything in store for a comfortable stay. Many (young) people even choose a life in a tiny house, sometimes on wheels. Finca Don Carmelo's horses´refuge was converted into a mini-version of my own cortijo (farm house): a rustically furnished residence, appropriately named La Cuadra (the stable) and that literally has everything for a wonderful, carefree holiday in the midst of olive, avocado and fruit trees on Finca Don Carmelo. La Cuadra has a small kitchen, a lounge, a bathroom and one bedroom, suitable for a couple or two friends. Many windows and a spacious veranda with a view of the olive grove and in the distance the village of Comares (at 700 meters the highest in the region, so that it seems to 'float' at night), make La Cuadra feel very spacious and you really feel completely at one with nature. In this setting you can still appreciate dreamy, starry nights. La Cuadra has a separate driveway and parking. And of course you have access to a beautiful private infinite swimming pool. You do have neighbors: my horses, Tiznao and Amapola, and my donkey, Mamacita, as well as my two goats, Isabela and Juana (´La Lola´). The Finca with 2,5 hectares of olive groves evokes a relaxed 'back to basics' and 'back to nature' feeling.
Electricity is supplied by solar panels.
In La Cuadra you will find the following:

Bedroom, suitable for two singles or one couple.

Bed linen and towels are provided.

Kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, juicer, kitchen linen and everything you need to cook your own meal. Ecological dishwashing products are provided.

Sitting area with wood stove for winter guests

Bathroom with toilet and rain shower. Ecological soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel and hairdryer and towels are provided.

A very spacious covered veranda (ideal for your private yoga session or a wellness massage, on reservation) with dining table, chairs, sofa, rocking chairs and hammock. The veranda has ceiling fans that provide a pleasant breeze during the hot days.

Towels and bathrobes to use at your private pool. BBQ and pizza oven at the pool are free to use.

A starter pack with coffee, tea, olive oil, salt and pepper and other basic products is provided free of charge. A welcome pack with: organic Extra Virgen Olive Oil from Finca Don Carmelo (which other?), a bottle of red wine and some refreshments will be yours as a welcome gift.

First of all, a sincere thanks for the warm welcome (and the delicious olive oil). We really liked La Cuadra. Congratulations, this is a gem. The quiet location, amidst your beautiful, ancient olive trees, the stylish decor. It was delicious to have breakfast on the spacious terrace and to relax in privacy and tranquility. We're going to miss this. The beautiful view of the mountains behind is truly unique. You don't even have to get out of bed for the latter! Talk about a room with a view! We were looking for Spanish authenticity and certainly found it in Periana and the hinterland. And this a short drive from the beaches, Granada, Málaga... The Ruta de la Cabra with its impressive natural beauty will remain with us for a long time. Glad we found you, although a week was a bit too short. But as they say in Spanish: hasta la proxima!
